Trauma Talks: The Impact of Domestic Violence on Family Systems
Understanding Domestic Violence is beyond observing individual relationships. We must look beyond Intimate Partner Violence, and recognize Domestic Violence as an act of harm on the entire family and community system. Understanding Domestic Violence requires a reflection of larger society and systems to truly address its impact. Participants will grow shared language and tools to best support individuals navigating Domestic Violence. Finally, participants are encouraged to bring their heart and hope to break the cycles of Domestic Violence during this training. Thank you for your time and consideration in joining! This topic will touch on sensitive topics related to trauma, intimate partner violence, domestic violence, and cycles of abuse. Please be aware that some content may be distressing or triggering for individuals with personal and professional experiences of these and related traumas and challenges. While facilitators will include content warnings for prepared materials, please be aware that there may be self or case related disclosures from participants. We encourage you to practice self-care and feel free to step away at any time. For any additional needs or resources please reach out to our team at trauma_initiatives@icoyouth.org.
