Trauma-Informed Training Curriculum

ICOY's Education & Resource Development Team delivers a comprehensive trauma-informed care training curriculum each fiscal year from July through March. Our trainings are designed to strengthen the capacity of youth-serving professionals, organizations, and systems to create environments that promote safety, healing, resilience, and positive youth development. Our curriculum is continuously evolving. Each year, we review participant feedback, emerging research, and the needs identified by service providers across Illinois to ensure our training offerings remain relevant, practical, and impactful.

Our Approach

At ICOY, we believe that effective trauma-informed practice requires more than understanding trauma—it requires a commitment to healing, equity, and meaningful relationships.
Our trainings are grounded in:

  • healing-centered approach that recognizes the strengths, resilience, and potential of young people and communities.
  • Cultural humility, encouraging ongoing self-reflection, openness, and responsiveness to diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives.
  • Evidence-informed practices that support positive youth development and organizational change.
  • Interactive learning experiences that encourage reflection, discussion, and practical application.

Beginning in each July, ICOY will offer a variety of trauma-informed trainings covering foundational and advanced trauma-informed concepts for youth-serving professionals.
