DEI: Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities

June 18 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Series Summary: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): Though this phrase is more popular in recent years, many people are not clear on the definition. In addition, more people consider themselves committed advocates for equity but struggle to connect their expanding knowledge to their everyday life. This series intends to meet attendees wherever they may be in their DEI learning and offer a down-to-earth, practical, and relational approach to create an inviting space to learn, engage and grow.Breaks will be offered throughout the sessions. Each training is provided 2 times, however, registrants are encouraged to attend each training once. Additionally, it is suggested to attend in sequential order, though attending out of order is acceptable.

Session Summary: Building on the work done using the Pair of Aces and Creating System Change, this session will further examine the systems of inequity. Beyond problem-solving, participants will be introduced and experiment with developing more creative and possibility-filled opportunity space. The double diamond framework for innovation will guide us through our collective work. Key to this session is an accurate accounting of the system’s current state (s) and a re-imagining of an intersectional, anti-racist future state(s).

Please note, if possible, we are asking participants to keep their webcams on to help keep us all engaged!

Two continuing education units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses.
