SUMMARY:Trauma Talks: The Impact of Domestic Violence on Family Systems
DESCRIPTION:Understanding Domestic Violence is beyond observing individual relationships. We must look beyond Intimate Partner Violence\, and recognize Domestic Violence as an act of harm on the entire family and community system. Understanding Domestic Violence requires a reflection of larger society and systems to truly address its impact. Participants will grow shared language and tools to best support individuals navigating Domestic Violence. Finally\, participants are encouraged to bring their heart and hope to break the cycles of Domestic Violence during this training. Thank you for your time and consideration in joining! This topic will touch on sensitive topics related to trauma\,intimate partner violence\, domestic violence\, and cycles of abuse. Please be aware that some content may be distressing or triggering for individuals with personal and professional experiences of these and related traumas and challenges. While facilitators will include content warnings for prepared materials\, please be aware that there may be self or case related disclosures from participants. Currently serving as a the Manager of Healing-Centered Community Support\, and LGBTQ+ Liaison at ICOY\, she leads CARES\, ICOY’s for-hire Trauma-Informed Services\, and facilitates training and capacity-building to support service providers with gaining tools\, skills\, and knowledge about trauma-informed care. As an LGBTQ+ Liaison she ensures that ICOY is meeting the needs of organizations serving queer children\, youth\, families\, and service providers across the state. Marlee use trauma-informed principles\, restorative and reparative models\, and intersectionality to guide every aspect of her work. Her approach to content and facilitation is rooted in her commitment to supporting organizations in their journey to not only dismantle oppressive systems\, but to center communities in making healing accessible and sustainable.

SUMMARY:Working with Youth Experiencing Housing Instability: Training for IDHS Homeless Youth Program Providers
DESCRIPTION:This two-day webinar is designed specifically for new supervisory and front-line staff working in Illinois DHS-funded Homeless Youth programs. Participants will receive an orientation to both effective practice with youth experiencing homelessness and the program requirements necessary for successful implementation of DHS-funded services. Topics include understanding the unique needs and experiences of youth experiencing homelessness\, engagement strategies\, trauma-informed and developmentally responsive practices\, case studies\, and available resources. Participants will also learn the policies\, regulations\, documentation expectations\, and contractual requirements specific to Illinois DHS Homeless Youth programs to support program compliance and quality service delivery. This training is intended for staff working in or preparing to work in Illinois DHS-funded Homeless Youth programs. DESCRIPTION:Neurodiversity is a complex topic where shared language and understanding are essential to every team’s success. Whether or not it’s been named directly\, young people and staff who are neurodivergent are present in every program. This two-hour foundational training gives participants a shared vocabulary for talking about neurodiversity\, along with tools to recognize and consider common accommodations for youth and staff. Through refl ection and discussion\, participants will examine their own assumptions and starting points around neurodiversity. SUMMARY:Child Welfare Coalition Call
DESCRIPTION:Join ICOY and other member organizations on a call to discuss key changes in the child welfare and youth-led arena.\nThe goal is to create a child welfare system that prepares youth to become successful and self-sufficient. Illinois Collaboration on Youth (ICOY) seeks to focus the attention of Illinois’ elected officials in all branches of government on the systematic challenges facing the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the private agencies that deliver many of the services within their communities.\nWe work continuously with lawmakers and other stakeholders to educate them about the impact of nearly two decades of neglect of this system\, and to advocate for the investments and reforms that are needed to fund and sustain the community-based providers of child welfare services.\nThese calls will take place twice a month and we are asking that all participants register to join.
