SUMMARY:Violence Interruption: Community and Meaningful Youth Engagement
DESCRIPTION:This interactive training is designed for practitioners working in violence interruption and youth-centered nonprofit spaces. It invites participants to reexamine the narratives we carry about young people and the communities they come from—and consider how we can shift from individual blame to collective responsibility.Through guided reflection\, collaborative learning\, and practical tools\, participants will:\n• Explore how historical and racialized narratives have shaped the way youth and communities are perceived\, and how these perceptions impact support\, policy\, and practice.\n• Identify and map the barriers that get in the way of meaningful youth engagement\, while recognizing that these challenges are often rooted in systems—not in the young people themselves.\n• Learn how asset-based community mapping can reframe our approach\, helping us focus on strengths rather than deficits when working alongside communities impacted by violence.\n• Reflect on strategies for self and collective care\, acknowledging the emotional demands of this work and the importance of sustainability and support within our teams. \nTwo continuing education units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). SUMMARY:YASI Case Planning

The first step includes training in the YASI (Youth Assessment Screening Instrument) computerized risk/protective assessment tool as well as skill development in interviewing. The second step aids participants in choosing appropriate interventions\, as well as an introduction to a framework to increase client involvement. Only one participant per device: ICOY strongly advises against any device sharing between participants in our virtual trainings. If multiple people log in to a training using a single computer\, ICOY will only record the name and organization of the registrant whose computer is being utilized as having attended the training. Further\, only the individual that registers for the training will be eligible to receive CEUs and a Certificate of Attendance. \nTime: 9:00am-3:30pm each day with a one hour break. \nTwenty-four continuing education units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). SUMMARY:Child Welfare Coalition Call
DESCRIPTION:Join ICOY and other member organizations on a call to discuss key changes in the child welfare and youth-led arena. \n  \nThe goal is to create a child welfare system that prepares youth to become successful and self-sufficient. Illinois Collaboration on Youth (ICOY) seeks to focus the attention of Illinois’ elected officials in all branches of government on the systematic challenges facing the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the private agencies that deliver many of the services within their communities. \n  \nWe work continuously with lawmakers and other stakeholders to educate them about the impact of nearly two decades of neglect of this system\, and to advocate for the investments and reforms that are needed to fund and sustain the community-based providers of child welfare services. \n  \nThese calls will take place twice a month and we are asking that all participants register to join.
