SUMMARY:The Impact of Substance Misuse on Family Systems
DESCRIPTION:Trauma does not occur in isolation. It affects entire family systems and impacts relationships\, communication\, and overall well-being. In this training\, participants will focus on understanding and supporting families impacted by substance misuse through a Harm Reduction framework. Together\, participants will build language\, tools\, and resources to better understand stigma and bias and how these dynamics can affect families both internally and interpersonally. The session will also explore the role service providers play in supporting\, empowering\, and uplifting families affected by substance misuse. Two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). If you would like to request CEUs\, you may do so in the evaluation survey sent after completing this training. SUMMARY:Moving Beyond Outputs: Framing Long-Term Outcomes to More Effectively Talk About Mission
DESCRIPTION:Many nonprofit organizations work hard to track what they do—meals served\, youth engaged\, counseling sessions provided\, volunteers mobilized—but struggle to communicate the longer-term difference those efforts make. This practical webinar will explore how organizations with limited evaluation capacity can move beyond reporting outputs alone and begin framing meaningful outcomes using information they may already collect. Participants will learn simple\, accessible strategies for connecting everyday program data to broader community impact\, research-supported outcomes\, and even potential economic value. Through real-world examples and straightforward tools\, the session will demonstrate how nonprofits can tell a stronger story about mission effectiveness without investing in expensive evaluation systems. Designed especially for small and mid-sized organizations\, this webinar will help leaders communicate impact more clearly to funders\, boards\, donors\, and community partners. Participants will leave with practical ideas they can begin applying immediately within their own organizations. One and a Half Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). If you would like to request CEUs\, you may do so in the evaluation survey sent after completing this training. SUMMARY:Restorative Justice 201: ReGeneration Circle: Embodying Restorative Justice Process
DESCRIPTION:In this intergenerational circle\, with fire as our centering\, i want to have the participants ground themselves in the times they’ve experienced loss of something and the grief or hardship that came with it and to also think about what retrieval meant for them—was there healing\, was there room for observation\, or is there burial beneath the ashes and why? I hope to use this space-time to generate a happening for folks to create space for themselves to heal and to be uplifted by the closeness of others. Two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). SUMMARY:Child Welfare Coalition Call
DESCRIPTION:Join ICOY and other member organizations on a call to discuss key changes in the child welfare and youth-led arena.\nThe goal is to create a child welfare system that prepares youth to become successful and self-sufficient. Illinois Collaboration on Youth (ICOY) seeks to focus the attention of Illinois’ elected officials in all branches of government on the systematic challenges facing the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the private agencies that deliver many of the services within their communities. \nWe work continuously with lawmakers and other stakeholders to educate them about the impact of nearly two decades of neglect of this system\, and to advocate for the investments and reforms that are needed to fund and sustain the community-based providers of child welfare services. \nThese calls will take place twice a month and we are asking that all participants register to join.

SUMMARY:Trauma Talks: Culture and Trauma
DESCRIPTION:Trauma has context. That context oftentimes has cultural and historical roots. This training will explore the relationship between trauma and culture through examining the ways power and oppression impact individuals\, communities\, and access to resources. Additionally\, participants will gain insight into how historical and transgenerational trauma can shape our familial and communal systems and experiences. Lastly\, participants will learn about the resilience and protective factors these communities have built to cope with trauma at the hands of our systems and society\, historically and presently. This topic will touch on sensitive topics related to trauma\,intimate partner violence\, domestic violence\, and cycles of abuse. Please be aware that some content may be distressing or triggering for individuals with personal and professional experiences of these and related traumas and challenges. While facilitators will include content warnings for prepared materials\, please be aware that there may be self or case related disclosures from participants. We encourage you to practice self-care and feel free to step away at any time. For any additional needs or resources please reach out to our team at trauma_initiatives@icoyouth.org. Two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). SUMMARY:Caring for the Carer: Beyond Self-Care
DESCRIPTION:The concept of self-care is familiar within the human services field; however\, the barriers to engaging in self-care are often overlooked. One of the greatest barriers is the individualistic framing of self-care. We know that relationships foster resilience\, so why aren’t we talking more about collective and community care? In this training\, participants will shift their understanding of care by reframing employee well-being from an individual responsibility to a shared organizational value grounded in belonging\, connection\, and collective support. Two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC). SUMMARY:Building a Trauma-Informed Organization
DESCRIPTION:Creating a trauma-informed organization does not follow a one-size-fits-all approach. This training provides organizations with a foundational guide for developing and strengthening trauma-informed practices within their internal structures. Participants will explore ways policies and procedures can be revised through a trauma-informed lens while building strategies and organizational capacity to resist re-traumatization. By the end of the session\, participants will feel empowered to respond with empathy\, establish realistic goals\, and advocate for meaningful trauma-informed change within their organizations. Two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses (LSW\, LCSW\, LPC\, LCPC).
