Trauma Learning Communities
August 12, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
New this fiscal year, ICOY has developed a two-part learning community series to help providers implement trauma-informed change within their organizations.
The structure of the communities will emphasize peer-to-peer provider learning through using breakout rooms, small group discussion/ activity, and resource sharing. The August 12th and August 19th sessions are for all DHS and IJJC programs including IYIP, Teen REACH, CYS, Redeploy, CCBYS and Homeless Youth. All are welcome! Registering here registers you for both sessions!
Please limit two people per program, per site. We strongly recommend that sites send at least one staff person in a leadership role to attend, as they have a greater capacity to influence organizational change through relationships with other leaders in the organization, through their access to resources as well as through policies and practices.
Learning Community- Part 1
The first part of the series will focus on understanding the results of the CBAT-O assessment and using them to develop an action plan. It will also focus on helping providers set the stage for this change with activities that will help them consider how to build a trauma steering committee and how to create channels of communication to support increased staff buy-in.
Learning Community- Part 2
The second part of the series will focus on developing a strategic plan for implementing traumainformed change while also considering each organization’s strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats (or a SWOT analysis). Additionally, the second community will examine building sustainability for the strategic plan through discussions centered on topics such as maintaining staff buy-in, developing agency-wide education plans, and combating compassion fatigue and burnout.
Trainer: Kandice Manciel
Three continuing education units (CEUs) will be available for participants with social work and professional counseling licenses.
