Problematic Sexual Behavior in Adolescents
September 23 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
Learning Series: Problematic Sexual Behaviors
The Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission in partnership with Youth Outreach Services
Who’s invited: individuals all over the state across disciplines who intersect with youth presenting problematic sexual behavior. Family members of youth exhibiting these behaviors. Individuals interested in building a learning community dedicated to these problems.
The series will kick-off with a meeting featuring a virtual presentation that will aim to further understanding problematic sexual behaviors. Additionally, it will address the need for a united and consistent response to these behaviors. The presenters will provide opportunities to learn about communities catering to youth and commonly reported barriers. This meeting will take place in a Webinar format and welcome up to 500 participants. Guests will have the opportunity to suggest goals and intentions of the learning community moving forward. Subsequent meetings will be held for a smaller audience, up to 100, and will be in a more participatory, collaborative format.
The Commission and Youth Outreach Services hope to build an array of strategic thinking across disciplines to form a united response to these behaviors, increase community safety, and help youth and families start and maintain a healthy path. Participants may include, but are not limited to: Probation officers, CAC staff, teachers, law enforcement, therapists, attorneys, court appointed special advocates, GALs, residential staff, community agency staff, and medical professionals. All are welcome. For questions and concerns, please contact Karina Velazquez.
